The document discusses reflections from an English language training assignment, including interests in language awareness and difficulties with self-assessment. It proposes ways to keep trainees motivated such as emphasizing benefits of English skills and positive attitude. Methods to check progress are described as having trainees write texts and converse about subjects, and improving autonomy through using technology for research and social networking.
Writing reflectively in Secondary School and CollegeKaren Rothermich
Ready to use in your classroom, this presentation is an introduction to writing reflectively. This is the how, what, when and why of writing a reflection. It provides definitions and questions for students to answer in order to write an effective reflection. Writing reflections will enhance your students' learning.
Anothe presentation which can be your reference in making your report in your EDUC 7A classes (Developmental Reading) this is the chapter 3 which focuses on what is developmental reading at its stages and the skills you need to have for proficient reading and of course the problem most kids are facing in terms of reading.

This presentation tries to answer some of the most common questions about the concept of Learner Autonomy: what is it, why is it important, and how do I develop it?
The presentation is aimed mainly at teachers.

It is about the Twitte/r Twibe project I've been developing together to my students. They are my partners! Enjoy the trip :)
1. ASSIGNMENT 3. UNIT ONE.
REFLECTIONS
Which of the content areas interest you most. Why?
The content area that interested me the most is language awareness, because during this
stage is when students first realize what are they dealing with. They become complete
aware that they are facing a real challenge, where they must be capable of communicating
ideas sometimes with no knowledge at all about the words that they need. It is also a stage
when the students understand that there are other cultures, accents, traditions, etc.
Which area will be more difficult for you? Why?
Maybe the self-assessment and developing areas, because only a few students will do what
it takes to learn by themselves, at least at the beginning of the learning process. Some
because they fear not understanding, some because they think the new language is
difficult. Sometimes encouraging students and give them advice and counseling as well as
materials seems not to be enough.
In which area would you like to develop further? How will you go about it?
I’d like to develop further in the content for language and culture. I seems exciting to me to
motivate students to understand that there are many cultures that are worth to learn about,
and how knowing another culture may open your mind. It is absolutely fascinating to
understand that we are part of this world even if have different cultural backgrounds.
How would you keep the trainees' motivation high during the training?
Sometimes is difficult, because they think they will never master the second language. But I
keep remembering them how convenient it is nowadays having English skills, and that all
they need is a positive attitude.
How could you check and evaluate the learning progress of your trainees during the training? Write
down some concrete ideas.
Having the students write a little text with the contents related to their personal life.
Having the students have a little conversation about the subject seen.
How can you improve the learner autonomy of your trainers?
Having them using technology to apply the different subjects, like making research on
internet, using the social network to communicate with native people who speaks the target
language, etc.
